I was born in Poland and arrived in Australia in the early 1980’s during the Solidarity uprising in Poland.
I taught at a technical college in Poland. However, arriving in Australia, I worked as a Quality Assurance Technician/patternmaker with Clothing Company (Austin Group, Mercury).
My late husband, Zygmunt Krywult, was elected to the Committee of the Polish Community Association in 1986 and served as President of the Association for two years. When the Club applied for and was allocate its first five Poker machines, Zygmunt was appointed Manager of the Club by the Committee and successfully served in that role for 15 years, overseeing the number of Gaming Machines increasing from the original five to 35.
Some years after the death of my husband, I decided to join the Committee and to volunteer my efforts to build the reputation of the Club in the Community and at the same time promote our Polish culture, which in my opinion was overlooked by previous Committees.
I quickly learned how important it was for the Committee to be on top of the financial operations of the Club. I saw how important the professional management of the Club was to secure the successful future of our venue and in maintaining the legacy established by our hardworking predecessors, who worked to build the Club from what was once a disused ball-bearing factory to the thriving Club it is today
My commitment to continue this legacy remains strong.
