I migrated to Australia with my husband and two daughters in 1983 through the Family Reunion Program. I work as a seamstress most on my working life in Australia at Kortex and Decore by Mira, both in Geelong.
As soon as I arrived in from Poland, the members of the Polish community in Geelong warmly welcomed my family and me. Therefore, we all quickly became involved in the various events and functions organised by the Polish Community Association (PCA), the organisation of which I very soon became a member. In 2009, I was elected to the PCA Committee on which I served for four years until 2013. After a break of two years, I was once more elected as a Committee member in 2015.
I believe I have worked hard to serve the members of the PCA and to promote our Polish culture in the general Geelong community. I was heavily involved in ensuring the PCA’s annual participation in the Geelong’s Pako Festa demonstrated the Polish community’s commitment to integrate positively into the Geelong community.
